"These deals are not large yet, but it's indicative that the center is very likely to be in New York for this intersection of commercial real estate and technology," said Susan Wachter, a real-estate and finance professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. For the first nine months of last year, venture-capital investment in New York City real-estate technology companies was $11.62 million, according to the MoneyTree Report by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association with data by Thomson Reuters. In all of 2012, just $5.4 million was raised.
