New York based women's investment platform Ellevest has raised $9m in venture funding led by Khosla Ventures. Ellevest, founded by Sallie Krawcheck, previously raised a $10m Series A round in September 2015.

Krawcheck, the former CEO of Smith Barney & Co. and one-time Dell Inc. board member, also received backing from Aspect Ventures, Ulu Ventures and tennis champion Venus Williams. Also participating in the round was Sharon Vosmeck, CEO of Astia Angels' parent company; Mellody Hobson, current director for the Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and Starbucks Corp.; angel investors Nellie and Max Levchin; as well as various individuals from investment group Broadway Angels.
