DataFox the online research platform that allows anyone to track information about private tech companies, has raised $5 million of Series Seed funding. The round was led by Goldman Sachs and Green Visor Capital. The company is expanding its reach to put the capabilities of professional analysts into the hands of anyone interested in the same sort of information, research, and insights.
Janmaat believes that his company’s language processing and machine learning can fill a need saving hours of time for lower-level analysts. A new conference tracker, for example, will keep track of the details on more than 4,000 different conferences for potential attendees. “The wave we are all riding is the the fact that companies are staying private longer, so there’s not as much information on these influential businesses,” Janmaat says. “And every industry is disrupted and affected by tech companies these days, from banking to retail.”
