The focus on technology talent is unabated at large financial firms. Citadel has hired Kevin Turner, the COO at Microsoft, to become CEO of its securities unit as hedge funds continue to seek technology talent. Citadel has been expanding its securities business as banks retreat, and is currently one of the largest market makers in assets like stocks.
Citadel is tapping a top technology executive to run the unit as the financial industry seeks an edge through the use of computers, big data analysis and artificial intelligence. Ray Dalio’s Bridgewater Associates in March hired Jon Rubinstein, one of the creators of the iPod and a long-time deputy of Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs, as co-CEO.
