Segwit, the upgrade meant to lower the work and speed up the process to confirm transactions off the main chain, is now involved in more than 30% of transactions as major crypto-exchanges such as Coinbase and Bitfinex have adopted. Transaction fees which climbed as high as $55 in December during peak crypto frenzy have now dropped to a low $2.
Transaction fees have dropped to a four-month low of $2, though confirmed transactions per day have also dropped to around 200,000 from more than double that number in December.
