This document seeks to provide context on the implications that the recently passed CARES Act - signed by President Trump on March 27 - will have on small businesses in the US. In the first section, you’ll find up-to-date information on the latest stimulus package, focusing on the PPP and its main characteristics, as far as key terms, loan size, eligibility requirements or timing. It also addresses alternative programs that may be of use for small businesses in the current environment. The second section addresses considerations for equity backed startups and venture capital funds, focusing on the ongoing discussion on affiliation rules, but also explaining alternative short and medium term provisions. Finally, the third section provides alternative resources, for more in-depth exploration on these matters.
