More or less keeping to schedule, Factom has now released its Release Candidate One for developers to begin working with--and that following a $1M raise conducted via BNK To the Future, a $0.5M Factoid crowdsale, and a partnership with Honduras for land title registration. This release stands in sharp relief to Ethererum whose own is perpetually "in 4-6 weeks."
Factom's protocol is effectively a data layer for the bitcoin blockchain which enables new types of data management and record keeping, among other things, and will likely compete with companies like DAH, Chain, Eris, and Filecoin in this respect.
Having recently reached its seed-round fundraising goal of $1 million on Bnk to the Future with Factom Inc., their sister entity the Factom Foundation has now launched a Release Candidate One (RC1), a critical step for launching the Factom network.
