In an effort to reduce 'screen scraping,' JP Morgan has entered into an agreement with Intuit to create an API that will make it easier and more secure to share data with digital apps like Mint and Quickbooks. JP Morgan hopes to build systems that allow them to 'push' information — and only that information agreed to by the customer — to that third party.
“The most important part of this is giving control to the customer,” JPMorgan Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon said in the press release. “Customers will get to decide what they want to share and when they want to share it – without having to hand over their password.”
