UK Finance, the industry body for UK lenders, has warned self-isolating people to beware of fraudsters looking to steal their money with false offers of help.
Lenders have teamed up to release a guide on how to make safe payments. This reminds those self-isolating, who rely on volunteers or neighbours to pick up groceries or medicines on their behalf, not to hand over their debit card or Pin. The recent increase in the UK contactless limit to £45 means someone with access to a payment card could potentially spend large sums. However, shops are promoting the use of contactless cards over cash payments in a bid to combat the spread of the virus.
