If software is eating the world, lets hope the software isn't held together by duct tape. With all of the chat about cyber security solutions, there needs to be more honest talk about the state of our infrastructure. The "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality can turn potentially small problems into big failures over time.
The big problem we face isn’t coordinated cyber-terrorism, it’s that software sucks. Software sucks for many reasons, all of which go deep, are entangled, and expensive to fix. (Or, everything is broken, eventually). This is a major headache, and a real worry as software eats more and more of the world.
