MasterCard announced it’s inaugural global Start Path class that includes 7 startups that were selected from nearly 200 applicants to join the 6 months incubation program. MasterCard began their Start Path program in 2014 but wanted to stretch it farther globally. The program is looking for innovative fintech startups tackling commerce (of course), big data, mobile, cloud, IOT and security.
As the cloud takes over and larger systems become core infrastructures, the ability to integrate with the 800 lb. gorilla—right out of the gate—can be key to getting across the chasm into the mass market. This is particularly true for the B2B market. While consumer applications may launch and live in a standalone environment, in the B2B space, startups have to navigate and connect themselves to entrenched ecosystems.
