Time to ditch the dow?

Openfolio CEO Hart Lambur went on CNBC to shed light on the advantages of having an investor portfolio based benchmark as oppose to following 30 multinational corporations that build up the DOW. Lambur says that investors care more about comparing themselves to investors similar to them; they want data that is most relevant to their portfolio, whether they are active or passive investors. Additionally, through the Openfolio platform, data showed that just over the last year the average investor underperformed by 8 points. The main reason for that according to Lambur, is over trading - when markets turn down, investors sell their portfolio in a panic sell. Even though the markets go back up,  these investors choose not to reinvest.
