According to portfolio company, Openfolio, the drop in the Investor Average for the month of June predated the Brexit selloff. This means that the underperformance of the Investor Average compared to the S&P was not entirely related to Brexit or the market shifts that occurred as a result of it. The month of June stayed in line with recent demographic trends - where older investors outperformed the younger millennial generation who hold the least diversified portfolios.
There were a few stocks that heavily affected Openfolio investors’ portfolios, both positively and negatively: Twitter TWTR, -1.52% was the biggest wealth creator, gaining 11.1% while being the ninth most popular stock among Openfolio users. And on the other side of that, Netflix NFLX, +0.93% was the biggest loser for Openfolio investors, dropping 10.8% while being the fifth most popular stock.
