Florida accidentally banned banks from doing business in sunshine state

Florida wanted to make it easier to invest in the state’s booming economy. For several weeks, the government accidentally made it illegal for most banks to sell investments there.


 

“This was a drafting error in the legislative process,” a spokeswoman for Florida’s Office of Financial Regulation said. “After being informed about the issue on Friday, the Office of Financial Regulation worked over the weekend and developed a temporary solution.”
