An investigation by the non-profit Irish Council for Civil Liberties published on Tuesday shows the number of segments [of data marketed by data brokers] is greater than previously thought, including data on many influential and sensitive professions that were not known to be sold to advertisers.
"Platforms know the anonymization they are doing is so fragile, and they know what they are doing is identifying sensitive information that could endanger people and society."
