They are so new to finance that they do not know how to use the existing financial system. But 54% of smartphone users in Latin America have purchased a product or service with their smartphones. Latin America also has one of the most active audiences for messaging apps like WeChat and WhatsApp. Download rates for messaging apps hit four-digit percentage gains, and active use is high (61% have used WhatsApp in the last month). The real, eye-widening statistic is that 97.5% use social media.
